Welcome back to the Green County Podcast, where today we’re feeling a little earthy. As the weather warms up and the days get longer, there’s no better time to head outdoors, enjoy nature, and, of course, smoke some weed. Today’s episode is all about the joys of combining cannabis with outdoor activities. Whether it’s floating down a river, kayaking, or simply hanging out in the great outdoors, there’s something truly special about the synergistic effect of cannabis and nature.
The Joys of Outdoor Cannabis Consumption
As the seasons change and the sun starts to shine, it’s the perfect time to get outside. Floating season is upon us, and there’s nothing quite like drifting down a river with a joint in hand. It’s all about enjoying the simplicity and beauty of the natural world while enhancing the experience with a bit of cannabis. Whether you’re into kayaking, canoeing, or just lounging by the water, the combination of fresh air and weed creates a relaxing and memorable experience.
Kayaking: Sport or Activity?
A recent debate sparked on our podcast: is kayaking a sport or an activity? While Mason argues that kayaking is just a leisurely activity, Mike insists it’s a full-fledged sport. According to the Oxford Dictionary, a sport involves physical exertion and skill where individuals or teams compete for entertainment. So, does that mean kayaking isn’t a sport if it’s not competitive?
Regardless of how you classify it, kayaking offers a fantastic way to connect with nature and enjoy some quality time outdoors. And when paired with cannabis, it becomes an even more enjoyable way to unwind and take in the scenery.
Adventures and Mishaps on the River
We shared some personal stories about our outdoor adventures, and one particularly memorable tale involves an overnight float trip on the Current River. Picture this: a group of friends camping by the river, ready for a day of floating, drinking, and enjoying nature. The next morning, I decided to take a couple of grams of mushrooms, hoping to enhance the experience. Little did I know, the day would take an unexpected turn.
As the day progressed, one of my friends became hilariously inebriated, causing us to flip our canoe multiple times. To make matters worse, we encountered Missouri’s finest highway patrol standing by the riverbank. Despite being on mushrooms, I managed to pass a sobriety test, while my friend, who was heavily intoxicated, narrowly avoided jail time. The lesson here? Maybe don’t mix excessive alcohol with your outdoor adventures, and always be prepared for the unexpected.
Respecting Nature and Authorities
Another story took us to Arkansas, where a large group of us went camping and floating on the Buffalo River. The day was filled with fun and laughter until a park ranger appeared out of nowhere. With the power of a federal agent, he interviewed several members of our group and issued tickets for those who admitted to holding drugs. It was a stark reminder of the power that park rangers hold and the importance of respecting both nature and the authorities.
Getting in Touch with Nature
There’s something incredibly grounding about being in nature, especially when you’re smoking cannabis. It brings a sense of peace and connectedness that’s hard to find elsewhere. Whether you’re floating down a river, hiking through the woods, or just sitting by a campfire, nature has a way of enhancing the cannabis experience. And with more places legalizing cannabis, it’s becoming easier to enjoy these moments without fear of legal repercussions.
Tips for a Great Outdoor Cannabis Experience
- Plan Ahead: Make sure you’re familiar with the rules and regulations of the area you’re visiting. Some places may have restrictions on cannabis use.
- Pack Smart: Bring everything you need for a comfortable and safe trip, including water, snacks, and a first aid kit.
- Respect Nature: Leave no trace. Clean up after yourself and be mindful of the environment.
- Know Your Limits: Whether it’s cannabis or alcohol, know your limits and stay safe. Enjoy responsibly.
- Stay Hydrated: Being outdoors can be dehydrating, so drink plenty of water.
So grab your gear, light up, and embrace the outdoors. And remember, smoking weed can be both an activity and a sport, depending on how you do it! Happy floating, and see you next time on the Green County Podcast!
